Negativity

Thoughts on Negativity in Life:
1. While reading the book to my birthing classes, the author points out the fact that during pregnancy, like many other things in life, people like to share their worst story.

"My pregnancy was so hard because....",
"I had such bad morning sickness",
"I had so many complications",
"You wont make it very far without pain medication, labor was the worst thing ever," etc...

While I'm sorry that many people have had these sobering experiencing surrounding such a beautiful part of life, do these things really need to be the first things shared when the topic of pregnancy is brought up?

I feel bad for saying I've had a great pregnancy. I of course am not trying to flaunt the fact that I'm feeling great or anything. But why is it that we can't talk about the positives about things for fear of hurting some one's feelings?

2. When people ask where my husband is, I usually get into a conversation about him being in the Army and that he is being deployed to Afghanistan. Today, I had a gentleman tell me that he does not agree with what my husband is doing in the Army, and hopefully he is not killed in duty. THANKS SIR. I really appreciate those POSITIVE thoughts.

While I understand some people don't agree with the politics of war, our president, Afghanistan or Iraq or WHATEVER. But my husband didn't start this war. He, along with many other service men and women, are fighting to defend our freedom. If nothing else, could you please look at the positives of what he IS doing? I'm sure there are people with not the greatest intentions there. But must we really point out that fact?
I don't appreciate the comments I receive about people's dislike for the war that is being fought. Weather or not you do or don't agree, I'd appreciate you keeping your thoughts to yourself.

I want my life to be filled with POSITIVE thinking, POSITIVE conversations, POSITIVE reinforcements. There are plenty of negative things to dwell on in life. Hardship and frustration is a given. But there is beauty in the struggle. Beauty in life. Beauty every day.

Next time you start to think of something negative to say to someone, think about how it may affect them. Chances are they already know that it's going to be hard, or there is a risk, etc... I bet they could benefit greatly from hearing something positive and encouraging.

Thank-You! Some people really need to hear that, especially people dealing with deployed loved ones in the Military! I can count on both hands how many times people have said something along the lines of "well he chose to join" UGH sometimes I just want to slap people! Luckily I havn't...yet!

I get people saying "he choose to join" too. YES! He did. And i am so proud. We may not agree with everything that our leaders choose to do, but I'm proud of him for serving his country and protecting our freedoms!!!
