I've been reading...
These past couple weeks. Have you read it? I'm almost done, and have truly enjoyed every page of this book!
The Eldredge's have a very specific writing view & style. I think that the fact they are so real and candid about their marriage, hardships and so realistic about the things they have faced, helps come others to relate in such a real way. So much of the book I have thought, "wow, are they speaking to me or what?" And it is so much easier to chew, digest and start living these ideas because 1. i know i am not alone, and 2. there is hope!
In the last Chapter i just finished, John talks about asking God what he needed. (or something to that extent). He quickly said this prayer, thinking he wouldn't really hear anything back, since he and Stasi were in such a great place in their marriage. But he was surprised to realize, his heart truly was saying, "It's too hard". Right now I feel like Brock and I are in a great place in our marriage. I don't remember the last time we had a big fight, there were tears, etc... But marriage is still hard. Our hearts still struggle with this all consuming relationship that IS hard. It takes time, and effort! Sometimes I wonder if our relationship feels like it's in such a great place because we really are like 2 ships passing in the night. Have i become just that good and covering up certain things that bug me? Just a thought... But I love the truth from Love and War that your spouse ISN'T the enemy. Satan is, and is trying to use them to get to you. and Secondly, giving in to his agreements... How powerful is that? I'm sure i do it every day, and have never realized how much of my life satan really has a grip on.
So have you read it? What are your thoughts? What are your favorite tidbits that you have taken away with you? What have you seen change in your relationship? I'd love to hear them!
My other "love" of the past week has been David Crowder Band's "HOW HE LOVES".... Have you heard it? Do you love it? Powerful... It's amazing to think of my God's greatness and how He loves me.
How He Loves
-DCB
He is jealous for me, Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
And oh, how He loves us oh
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all
He is jealous for me, Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
And oh, how He loves us oh,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all
He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
And we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…
That He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.

Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
