Palin + Run For VP + Bristol's pregnancy = Republican Scandal

"Sarah Palin, dealt with two startling disclosures Monday. She announced that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant and plans to keep the baby. "

This is the news that greeted me yesterday as i returned from the gym. I finished working out and hoped on-line to check my mail before leaving to meet Sarah for lunch. On my iGoogle i have the latest top news and my second tab is CNN news. I was surprised to see the headline "Palin's teen daughter is pregnant" plastered everywhere. Click HERE is read the whole article.

Bristol Palin, second from right, holds infant brother Trig at Friday's announcement of their mother's candidacy.

So basically news reporters have nothing else to do but snoop around in people's lives and turn them upside down. While Palin never needed to come for and publicly speak about her daughter being pregnant before this, she has come forth quickly. However, it's sad to me that something such as this will bring so much negative attention to the Republican Party. People have already started to make assumptions and comments about Bristol being pregnant that make me really sad.

I have a lot of thoughts on this subject and they might just start to spew, so I'm really sorry if it comes across confusing.

While i am so glad that Bristol made the choice to keep her unborn child, i think that either way the public would find Gov. Palin to blame for her daughters "situation".
1st- The article on CNN says that Bristol was likely forced to have the baby because of her mother's stand on this issue. So it wasn't really her decision in the first place. Well, if we take the view point of liberal democrats, she is over 16, and could get an abortion with out her parents consent. And, it's her body, so she can do whatever she wants, who's to stop her? But now that the tables are turned, they can just disregard those thoughts and claim she is FORCED to keep the baby. But, lets just say that Bristol DID have an abortion. Then, any anti-Paliners would be her *** about this! She would be a hypocrite!
2nd-The Today Show was talking about Gov. Palin's stance of "Abstinence" in school systems rather then handing out condoms. Hoda & Kathy were suggesting and even said that they would like to know what was taught to this girl and if she is truly responsible for her actions. SERIOUSLY? They said that this is the reason we need sex education earlier in schools because children are not getting the information they need at home. WHAT THE HECK? Maybe, the earlier we start feeding our kids with sex ed, the earlier they start doing it!!! I think a 16 or 17 year old knows that sex can lead to having a baby. Enough said. Why should we hand out condoms and contraceptives at every turn when 12 year olds are hitting the sack together? So they don't get pregnant? I truly believe that this is NOT the answer. While in marriage children are a blessing. But outside of marriage, and at such a young age they seem anything but. However, our sin results in a consequence. In this situation Sex leads to getting pregnant. So why should we pad this with condoms and birth control pills?

I do give kudos to Obama who says that this is off limits, along with families, for the election.

There were many comments from readers about how hypocritical Gov. Palin & her husband are. I have to disagree with this. While you can have the best parents in the world who teach and guide you, it is the child who must actually put these things into practice and live this life.  But we can't judge their parenting skills when we barely know these people either. How many teens get pregnant at 17 or even younger?  We don't go after all those parents! Nor should we.

Why is our society so obsessed with Teen Moms? Why is it in US or PEOPLE Magazine and their baby shower is getting covered. But now it's Gov. Palin, and he family is under scrutiny and labeled as a scandal and could possible bring down the Republican Party?

It's interesting how you say Bristol was most likely FORCED to keep the baby because of her mom's political stance on abortion. I think you may have a good point there. It's also interesting to me how McCain and Palin are against sex educuation (for abstinence-only sex education) yet Palin has a pregnant teenage daughter. Even though sex education doesn't always work, standing next to your pregnant teenager daughter while you preach abstience-only education is slightly idiotic, don't you think?

Well my point was, Bristol was taught Sex-Ed at school right? Did i work for her??? Did i work for the THOUSANDS of other girls who are pregnant? My point was, that parents can teach and talk and DO everything right for their children. That doesn't mean they are going to DO it. If the world is so bent on her making her own choices for her body and child, why can't she make her own choice to have sex? Why is it ok for her to have a choice about her body in regaurd to having an abortion, but then flip it around when it comes to sex.
But we might as well start teaching abstience or SOMETHING since prenancy and abortion rates have gone up in the last year!!!! Growing up hearing, "oh just throw a condom on, and you'll be ok" growing up isn't going to help our world. Knowning that this is an alternative and that it's ok to say NO to something will give girls a better life!

And just to clarify, I'M PRO-LIFE! and PRO McCain and Palin. Maybe there not the best, or the ideal candidates, but I'd rather have someone who cares about ethics and integrity then someone who is going to give our country over to the UN for the hell of it. That's where i stand!
