What not to do when at a Starbucks Drive Thru.

Today i had some of the most annoying customers while working at Starbucks...

First of all, i think most people don't realize, WE CAN SEE YOU & HEAR EVERYTHING YOU SAD! Even if your window is UP!  Pick your nose, make fun of us, cussing, talking on the phone instead of ordering... yup! We see & hear it all.

1. I'm not your "sweetie", "hun" or "darling"! It is annoying when people call me these things, especially all three, during their visit. Half the people who say these things, are younger then me anyway. It's just not an appropriate way to address someone.

2. If your late, and you decide to go in the drive-thru, (versus coming inside or getting coffee as all), IT'S YOUR CHOICE! It's not like i know you are late for your meeting or getting to work, and purposefully TRYING to be slow! Making a latte is an art. It takes time. Love. and WORK. The milk doesn't steam itself, and there are probably drinks ahead of you. So while i understand everyone wants to get in and out, decide if you REALLY have time or not to get your latte.
2B. Every time you come in the Drive-Thru, i will repeat, "HI!, Welcome to the Starbucks Drive-Thru at Lake Forest, Would you like to try a Peppermint Mocha Twist today?". If you don't want to hear it, come inside. If you can't stand it, go to McDonald's, they don't care about you! Are you really in the much of a hurry the 5 seconds it takes for me to say that a piece of you dies? When you roll your eyes, cut me off, interrupt, mock me with your hand motions of a squawking bird, it's just plain degrading. And when i repeat your order, for accuracy and you drive off before i give you your total, it's just annoying. Especially when you get to the window and decide you want a lemon loaf as well or your drink isn't right now.

3. FINISH YOUR CONVERSATION BEFORE YOU ENTER THE DRIVE THRU! True story - Lady drive into drive thru lane. No one ahead of her. While she pulls up, i see her dial and call a friend. Seriously? As i ask her what she would like, she rudely says i need to wait, she doesn't know. She continues her conversation for (timed!) 5 min. People pulling up behind her. She then can not decide what she wants and proceeds to yell over the our headsets. Really? What planet are you from???!

4. No, it's not funny when you order a BigMac. It's as old as the worst pick up line.

5. When you bring your drink back and say you don't like it, "just because it doesn't taste right" after it is 3/4 gone? Who are you kidding? If it's wrong, that's fine. But why drink it all and then bring it back? And how can i fix it when it "just doesn't taste right?" Cut me some slack... I'm not a mind reader.

While all my friends are pretty cool,  and no one has done these things, I'm sure, i just thought i would share.... maybe someone will get a good laugh!

Christmas Card Picture Time

My brother took some pictures for us for our Christmas Card this year. I just can't decide which one... or should i do both? But if i do both, would people think me vain? Ahhh... Help me decide...

Christmas is coming!

The Holidays are probably my favorite time of the year! And they seem to last for a good 1/4 of the year too! Around August i start thinking about FALL! I love Fall. Because Thanksgiving is in the Fall and Fall bring Winter, and thus CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS!

August passes and the warm month of September hits. I usually start talking to my friend Laura about Thanksgiving. This year Laura and i started conversing about having our own Couples Thanksgiving Day Feast for our men in August i believe. Since we both usually go traipse around the countryside visiting different families that day, we wanted to share with our guys what our growing up experiences were! October comes, and since we don't really celebrate Halloween, the "Harvest" decorations come out in full force usually September 29th or 30th for me.
And then it is the beginning of November. When Starbucks rings in the Holiday Season with our Holiday Trio (Which there are actually four of this year, so Eggnog gets a back seat because Holiday Quad just doesn't sound good!) Ahhh yes. Red Cup days! Peppermint White Mochas! The crisp air and beautiful blue sky. It's all so grand, really!

.... So anyway, back to Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving comes. We start thinking about baking, and roasting, and cooking. Then of course eating, family and friends! Since we've been dating, Brock and i usually go to his Nani & Grandfathers house first. We eat and hangout. His parents are usually there. This year, Venessa and Aaron will hopefully be coming out as well. Then we head to my parents house for dinner too! Many people think I'm crazy for eating two meals on Thanksgiving day. But they are both very different. Since its with Brock's Mom's side of the family, all the food always has a Mexican twist. Then back at my parents its all traditional. So, you see, it works out very nice!

Then, of course, over the next few days the lights go up, and Christmas items emerge from the closets and attic! This past Christmas, it being our first one married and all,  i didn't have many decorations. But i love Christmas things so much! So, as Brock and i were riding the aisles of Target on our cart looking for kid presents (and Star Wars action figures for Brock), he spotted this great PlayMobil Nativity set. I fell in love!  Don't laugh. It was the right price, and it wont break! I can't wait to get it out again this year!

Christmas will be exiting too! We spend Christmas Eve with Brock's parents and family at Nani and Grandfather's. Eating great Mexican foods and doing a present exchange that is always fun!
Christmas Day we usually spend with my parents having breakfast, opening presents, and then having a great meal with friends and some family.

I am so excited for the Holidays to come!

November 4th...

The day is drawing near... November 4th is the day when our country will decide who will lead our country for the next 4 years.

This election seems to have been drawn out for forever. Thankfully it will be coming to a close. Hopefully we will not have another "hanging chad" incident, or contested votes to deal with and we will have a President voted into office on Tuesday night.
While the whole of the election is very nerve racking and is hard for me not to be scared, I'm glad that we do indeed serve a God who has it all under control! There are so many laws to be passed, such as Prop 8, that will shape our lives, and the country in which we will raise our children. Not to mention the president and what ramifications that will have our our country and lives as well. It is hard to look at Obama and see what good would come from his presidency. I don't care what you call it, he's a communist. I don't understand why he thinks it will work for him this time. What about all the failed attempts before him?

We live in a great nation. Built on principles. Years ago we would have never thought this day would come in our country. But we, like every great nation before, from Egypt, to Alexander the Great, we too will not last forever. But what will bring this country to defeat? Our turning away from God. I truly believe with all my heart, that if we remained in God's will, our country might keep on rising as a great country of freedom. But we have bought into the world's lies and we too will fall. I pray that it is not in my lifetime, but somehow i doubt that.

The biggest discussion in our house is our right to bearing arms. Will Obama push for citizens to be stripped of their right to bear arms? If so, i fear we will be moving to Mexico! Or suggesting that Alaska break off into it's own country and Sara Palin becoming president!

Anyway, even though theses times are tough and scary, I'm glad that we can hope in our God. That He has a perfect plan, and his sovereignty will prevail. That no matter what happens:

...The Bible will still have all the answers,
...Prayer sill still work,
...The Holy Spirit will still move,
...God will still inhabit the praises of His people.
...There will still be God anointed preaching,
...There will still be singing of praises to God,
...God will still pour out blessings upon His people,
...There will still be room at the Cross for you,
...Jesus will still love you,
and Jesus will still save the lost if they turn to Him.
He will still be in control!
