Observations...& Pet Peeves

Today, Brady (the little guy i watch) and i went to The Shops @ Mission Viejo.  We walked around a bit and did a little shopping... As we did there were a few things i observed (along with pet peeves).

• Women in adds: There ALWAYS skinny (unless its Lane Bryant or the like). Clothes this season are focused on "skinny", "slim", "ultra tight". EWWW. I'm a "big girl" and let me tell you, this doesn't fit me! I don't like it! While i want to slim down a size or too, my legs & butt will never fit into those short shorts, or ultra slim pants. They just wont! Why do commercials, media, shows, movies, adds, songs, musicians, allll have to fit the super skinny look? It's not practical. I read PEOPLE Magazine at Brady's house (i don't spend money on it!) and it's like EVERY issue they are talking about the latest mother who lost all 20lbs of baby weight in 6 weeks or whatever. WOW, good for them, but that's not all there is to live for in life! I don't have time to do a 3 hr work out a day and fix myself spiffy meals like that! I'm not saying that you shouldn't be fit or i don't like skinny people, i'm just saying that shouldn't be the standard.
• I'm just fat... not PREGNANT! To ride on the tails of my previous comment, i know i'm not as in shape as i used to be. I do have some areas to work on. Especially my stomach. =) As i am in the mall looking around in a store, a lady asks me how old my baby is. Brady is in the stroller as i am pushing... I told her he was 22 months old. She then replied saying, WOW! And another already on the way? But you just look so young! ----- Thanks Lady. ----- i smiled and left. Don't people know they shouldn't ask things like that, or make a statement, unless it's OBVIOUS, like i'm wearing a shirt that say "PREGO" or something? Haha...
• While i'm at the MAC counter in Nordstroms i am looking for a nice eye shadow shade. I have a gift card i want to use up. 2 or 3 girls are at the counter and tell me they will be with me in a moment. Great, as i am looking at colors trying to decide, one of the girls comes up to me, "Hi Hun, what can i help you with"? First, i'm probably just as old, or not far behind this girl. She looks about 20, but probably older. But NOT enough to call me HUN! She continues on by calling me sweetie and such. REALLY? I just don't think that's appropriate to call a customer... at least at the MAC Counter. 
• While it's the end of the summer i'm sure a lot of kids are still on break and shopping for the coming school year. I was surprised by how many children i saw running around the mall by themselves! There were two little girls in front of my while i was walking around that seemed so young! Probably 7 or so. I couldn't believe they were by themselves! My, what is happening in this world.!?!!
• Lastly...  while Brady and i were leaving we saw Tammy from the Bravo Show "Real Housewives of Orange County". I don't mean the be rude, but she's really not as attractive as they portray he to be in the show.

That concludes my rant. =) I hate living in the OC... especially SO County. Anyway, i'm glad this isn't what is important to me!!! =)

Life as of Late

Last night i was home by myself for the evening while Brock was out with some guy friends. I was cleaning up a little and then hit the sack around my usual time of 9:30p. I realized how mundane and "scheduled" my life has become. When school starts again for colleges i feel like i should be there too! I forget that i have graduated into a new stage of life. But sometime i feel like i am still trying to get used to it, even tho it has been a year and a half since i left BIOLA! But something still seems like its missing or wrong. I'm not sure what it is, or when i will feel like i am truly a college graduate and this is real life now? 

While i have loved working (err living!) at Starbucks and learned a lot of things there, and have also loved spending my days with Brady, i want to look back on my life and feel like i accomplished all that i could have. And i don't feel like i am right now. I am praying that God shows me where He wants me to serve and where i can do something to impact the world for Him. 

TMI... BEWARE

So, i had a hard day and my sweet husband was giving me a back rub in bed! As he is kneading out the tension in my shoulders he says...

"Babe, why do you have this thermometer next to your bed?"

"I used it last week because i thought i had a fever...why?"

"Oh.... yeah? Well i thought it was a pregnancy test, so i peed on it the other day."

"BRENT! That's a THERMOMETER! FOR YOUR MOUTH"

"Yeah, i figured that out... I MEAN, I KNOW!!!"

"Brent, you do know even if it was a pregnancy test, YOUR A GUY! It wouldn't matter!!"

"Yeah, well ... um... if Mythbusters can prove you can fail a drug test with poppy seeds, then why not me and a pregnancy test?"

EWWWW... Why are guys so weird???? And then think they are funny????

Brock got a job!

Brock got a job at a security company in Santa Ana this week. He started his training today. While this probably isn't his first pick for work, he also may get called at any time to go to boot camp at a sooner time, and if not, April isn't that far away, RIGHT?! 

However, it does seem ironic that after 2 years of being together i finally quit my job at Starbucks with outrageous hours to have a 8-4 job like Brock. Now he is going back to working all hours of the day. =( It will be another adjustment for us.

Brock's Update #3

Thanks for praying for Brock yesterday! We are so thankful he passed his physical exam! However, you can keep praying for us because Brock is scheduled to leave for boot camp/basic training on April 7th, 2009! We were hoping to get it done and over with quickly so he could find & job and we could move. We are not exactly sure what our plan of attack is going to be now from here on out.

As today is the 15th, we have not received any notice that someone is moving in to our apartment. So, while we enjoy living here, we will feel so much better when we can move out and aren't financially tied down here at this apartment!

On to something funnier=

As i was driving yesterday to Brock's swearing in, which was in LA, i almost had to turn off my air conditioning because the smog was so bad. As i came over a hill, i didn't even realize there was a city there (being LA) because it was so smoggy & hazy. How sick is that?!

Secondly, i am starving because i hadn't had lunch. I kept saying i would stop wherever was on the same side as i was driving. Of course, McDonald's was the last place before the building i needed to go to! There is a lady in a mini-van in front of me. She is yelling out her window,:

Women:"A MEAL" , in broken English, "I want a MEAL"
Employee: "Miss, what kind of meal would you like?"
W: "Kid, KID ONE"
E: "Ok, a Happy Meal Miss?
W: "YES, HAPPY KID MEAL"
E: "what kind?"
W: "What do you mean, what kind? I want happy kid meal!"
E: "Yes, i understand, but a burger? cheeseburger? chicken nuggets?"

So you get the point. This went on for about 7 min (I timed it), then when she got to the window, she changed her order, and couldn't decide what gender the kids were that the meals were for (to determine the toy). WOW... worst experiences EVER! But i had to share, cause I'm sure this happens to everyone and it's just frustrating!

I just don't understand...

There are some things in life i may just NEVER understand. Here are just a few...

-There's a LAW about talking on your cell phone while driving. It started July 1st, 2008. Did you miss the memo? Yeah... didn't think so, SO GET OFF!

-Ice Cream Trucks that look like they came from the dump and are rusting - why would you ever let your child eat something from there?

-Taking your pre-teen & teenage sons in the underwear aisle with you at the department store & asking their opinion? Good Grief! 

-Men & Gymnastics -or more so in those clingy outfits doing gymnastics... SCARY.

Sadly, all of these things happened to me today =(

Brock's Update #2

Brock's Recruiter called him today. Almost all his background search/check and paper work has gone thru! Praise GOD! This certainly is a time where God has been testing my patience!! He goes in on Thursday for his physical, finishes his paper work, is sworn in, and decides when to go to Basic Training. WOW. I know we would be blessed to have you praying for us. Especially for Brock as he is not looking forward to the physical and especially any needles!?

We are praising God for providing thus far, but we are continuing to pray that this month our apartment is rented by someone else. HOWEVER, that means we have to be out by the 15th - FRIDAY. So this will be a really big week for us. We have most everything we don't need packed up and are continuing to do so. But I'm nervous how this will all get done and out of here by Friday if that's God's will for us. (Which we hope it is!)

Then we got to ride the Lilly Belle. It's the caboose car on one of the trains. Only VIP guests get to ride in to. My mom's cousin is one of the engineers on the train, so he let us have a ride around the park! Laura wrote a book about it... check her out for more info here...

Picture Memoir #1 - Lake Arrowhead

We have had a very fun last couple weekends with my best friend Laura & her hubby Shawn! We went up to Lake Arrowhead and stayed at my parent's cabin 2 weeks ago... ( i know, lagging on the pictures)

  the boys bonding over feeding ducks =)   

   We played RISK! for hours... 

 And we had a blast visiting and hanging out, going to the lake & village 

     

Good Times... Good Friends... Good Memories

Brock's Update

Thanks to those of you who prayer for Brock this week while he took his test for the Army. He passed (with flying colors!) and is going in to talk to his recruiter about his physical test and when he will leave for boot camp tomorrow. The recruiter was very positive and had already spoken to the military police about Brock's interest and they want him! PTL!!!!!!!!!! So, he just has to pass his physical test, which he has been working out for hours a day for, and then see when he can get into a Police Academy.

We would love for you to keep us in your prayers. We are hoping to get out of our lease soon. We have asked to be out by the 15th, but we have not heard yet if someone is interested in our apt. We had a walk thru inspection today and were a little nervous since we never put a deposit down because of the deal they were running when we got the place. Thankfully the amount if we cleaned nothing and just walked out as is wouldn't be bad at all. (That is such a huge load of my mind! I may not even have to clean the place!) We are trusting that God will provide for our rent, or get us out of our lease.

We prayed for a good month that God would land Brock a job in His timing, and at every turn that looked promising, or a really good lead, He so far has shut the doors. So i know that He will provide and we are just waiting for Him to shower us with blessings all at once! (JOB, Rent Free & out of our apt, etc...)

Praise be to HIM, the giver of all good and perfect things =)

Shoes...

Shoe are one of those thing i used to never be able to buy enough of.... But then you get married and things change. Boys don't understand shoes OR purses OR clothes really for that matter. Why is that?

Anyway, i am cleaning out my closet (err... Shoe bin!) and found shoes i really don't wear and can't remember that last time i did! (Since i pretty much only wear my cons or rainbows now a days...) So if you are interested in any of my shoes, PLEASE, let me know and i will give them to you. So if you are a size 8 - 8 1/2, let me know if you want to know what i have. =)
